february shenanigans

Vahepeal on toimunud pĂ€ris mitu huvitavat asja.

TĂ€itsa vanade heade aegade tunne tekkis. Mingi kell tekkis idee edasi liikuda ja lĂ€ksimegi Apteki, mis on praegusel ajal ikka tĂ€iesti vĂ€lja surnud. Ehk kui suvi ja erinevad ĂŒritused peale tulevad, lĂ€heb elu jĂ€lle keema.

Ja ongi peaaegu mĂ€rts kĂ€es.. ja mĂ€rtsis tuleb pĂ€ris mitmeid huvitavaid nĂ€dalalĂ”ppe, nagu nĂ€iteks Kuldse Karika Tartu eelvoor, milleks valmistuda vaja, Madli sĂŒnnipĂ€ev ning nii mĂ”ndagi muud. PĂ”nev.

English: Last week a couple of interesting things happened. For example, on Friday morning we had a video shoot for our promo video of our Error Dance School. 7 am, rain, slush, snow – we had it all. Trust me, being on the ground with your bare hands in that kind of weather 10 times and more is not fun. Well, in the end it was still cool and the end result will definitely come out good!

If I usually make it home to Haapsalu maybe once a month, if that, then this month it happened that I made it there two weekends in a row. In the previous years I have gone much more often, but now, if there’s nothing happening there, then I don’t see a reason to actually drive over there. Still, the next weekend after Lithuanians were here, a couple of things went down. On Friday we were invited by our old classmate KĂ€triin to her house – unfortunately, there were only 7 of us, but still, it was really great. The table was full of good food and we had some good time talking and laughing. We also discussed the fact that next year, it will be 5 years since our high school graduation.. 5!! Unreal, how fast the time goes.

On Saturday it was the birthday party of twins Lisette and Rasmus, which was also great. We played jenga, talked alot, people were watching Eesti Laul downstairs and at one point, a random nostalgic disco happened. It definitely felt like the good old days. At some point people decided to move out and we went to Aptek, but it was basically empty and dead at this time of the year. Once summer comes and different events take place, it will be full of people again.

And it’s almost March.. and March has some interesting weekends coming up, like for example the qualification round of Kuldne Karikas dancing competition and Madli’s birthday and some other things as well. Exciting.

Ei saa me lĂ€bi Leeduta.

English: No, we cannot do without Lithuania. Those who read my blog could already be tired of the constant mention of Lithuania or Lithuanians, but I have more than enough to say. So this time, Matas and Gytis decided that it was their time to come to Estonia – done and dusted. Coming up with a concrete plan took a bit time, but we managed. At the end, it turned out to be an ideal weekend. On Thursday evening I managed to get myself to Haapsalu only to go to Tallinn on Friday morning, to pick the guys up at 7.20. After that we drove back to Haapsalu, to get some breakfast and maybe nap, but only one of us managed to do so. At some point we decided to go to the town, so we walked around, saw the castle, the promenade, the ice road, the railway station and ate lunch at Talumehe pub, which the guys really liked. So then it was again the time to take the turn and go to Tallinn, to have a good Estonian dinner prepared by Reili. In the end, there were quite many of us eco lifers. Of course we had to show them the Tallinn nightlife, so we got back at 5am. The next day was spent walking around Tallinn, showing them Kadriorg, Kumu, the sea, of course the Old Town and the platforms and stuff. We ate at Kompressor and oh damn, the pancakes were really delicious. In the evening we went to Telliskivi for a while and then again, the Old Town bars, getting back in again around 5am. At 10 am Sunday morning it was time to send the guys away, say bye bye and ‘see you next weekend’ – if it only was like that. It’s unbelievable how it is possible to find these kinds of amazing people in the most random way.

Õnneks peale hommikust mudimist sain end ikka liikuma. NĂŒĂŒd ongi kĂ€es magistri esimese aasta kevadsemester, aeg lĂ€heb ikka liiga ruttu + see tĂ€hendab, et on vaja reaalselt hakata magistritööga tegelema ja ma ei tea, kas ma selleks veel valmis olen.

English: After getting back from the project in Turkey stuff has gone by quite quickly and now that the new semester has begun, the fast pace continues. On February 5th we had our dance schools winter showcase and our elite group had 2 routines. In our dance school, there are a total of 12 groups and it was pretty cool to see some of the other routines as well – some of the boys’ group routines were awesome. Our routines were two different ones: the one called ‘Loputus’ was a contemporary dance, after which it was usually hard to breathe.. the other one was ‘Burlesque’, which was a show dance, high heels and stuff. After reherseals the feeling was not great at all, nothing seemed to work out. Luckily the performances turned out to be good or atleast the feedback was like that. After the concert we went with some people to our studio to talk about the showcase, overall stuff, look at old pictures and so on. The day before the showcase was also Ann’s 23rd birthday. We started out at her place and later on moved to the Shooters club. At some point my joints decided to give up and swell up, which is why I went home, in order to actually move the next day. And now it is the spring semester of my first year in master’s.. and I actually have to get to work and start writing my master’s thesis… and I don’t know if I am ready for it.

turkey pt 2

English: I finished my last post mentioning the international evening. Well, of course not all things went according to plan with this thing as well, but overall we got to taste some good foreign food and of course we Estonians had brought the most: from fish on black bread and kama to Kalev candies and chocolates. Since it was already evident that by that time the project schedule was well… screwed, then the next day, instead of visiting the Usak University, we went to Pamukkale. Trouble continued: we had a small bus, which was switched for a bigger one, which still did not fit us all and then we got a new one that was literally freezing cold. Finally we got to Pamukkale and it was amazing. Travertine terraces with mineral-filled hot water was just what I needed. It was weird to take off shoes and socks in freezing weather, but it was worth it. The mountaneous landscape and sunset in the end was perfect. The evenings after that were filled with parties, which was cool. Since everyone kinda felt like the schedule was screwed, people didnt really care anymore as well. Although, disclaimer: not every project is like that! My previous 3 experiences have been really good and that is why it was good to see that not all projects turn out to be that good and that is also a necessary experience. What is always the most important is that the people are cool and that they were. In the end it did not matter that the food was not the best or that the topic of inclusion with art ended up not touching art once…

The last day was spent in Istanbul. After an 8-hour bus drive to Istanbul we started our day with the funniest taxi ride. The taxi driver allowed us 5 girls to fit in the car, basically took one of the huge bags into his lap and on top of that, we drove the whole way with an open trunk.. seriously. And no one really cared. To spend a day in Istanbul is not enough, but I still managed to see some cool shops, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia etc. Also, it seems that I look Russian or something, because I constantly had people yell “spasibo, paĆĄalusta, privet” at me and a couple of Turks I talked with also asked wheter I had Russian blood.. But still, the problem of homeless dogs and cats made me really sad, because in Istanbul there are even more of them. Anyway.. the whole impression of the trip is rather good than bad, despite the negative things that happened. With these kinds of experiences it is possible to see that not all projects turn out to be perfect and that it is okay. I still experienced a new country and a new culture and my soul is still craving for something else besides Estonia.
